Suggested Itinerary for England and Scotland


Day 1
Arrive at London airport - enjoy a panoramic tour of the capital city before settling in to your hotel.
Day 2
This morning take a sightseeing tour of London including Buckingham Palace, Westminster Abbey, St Paul's Cathedral, Big Ben and much, much more.

Day 3
You start your tour of England and Scotland with a visit to Cambridge , the seat of learning, and a visit to King's College. Stroll around the medieval cloisters and courtyards or perhaps take a punt on the River Cam. You rejoin your luxury coach after lunch for your hotel in York.
Day 4
You have the morning to discover York, visiting the 12th century York Minster and the Jorvik Viking Centre, an insight into the origins of the famous city. In the afternoon you have the opportunity to discover where the Bronte Sisters lived and wrote their novels, bringing alive the characters made famous in such books as Jane Eyre, Wuthering Heights and Agnes Grey, before returning to your hotel in York.
Day 5
Leaving York you visit the ancient city of Durham famous for its Norman cathedral and castle. The castle is now part of the university which is the third oldest in England after Oxford and Cambridge. Continue then to Hadrian's Wall to learn of life in Roman times, visiting the 5th century fort at Houseteads. A further stop is made at the border town of Jedburgh to visit the abbey, founded by David I in 1118. Continue then to Edinburgh and your hotel.

On your sightseeing tour, explore the wonderful sights of this magnificent city. You will visit the imposing Edinburgh Castle and Holyrood House, before spending free time wandering along Princes Street soaking up the atmosphere of Scotland's Capital City. In the evening you can take part in a typical Scottish Evening, complete with haggis.

Day 7
Today will be a day of Castles and Whisky, not forgetting remarkable scenery. Your first visit is to st Andrews, home of golf and the famous University and onto Glamis Castle, the birthplace of the Queen Mother. You will discover the delightful town of Pitlochry, with the nearby Distillery of Edradour, Blair Castle with the only private army in Great Britain before arriving at your hotel in Aviemore.

Visiting Inverness you will have time to explore this capital of the Highlands before taking a cruise and searching for the Loch Ness Monster. You will see Urquhart Castle, with its wonderful position overlooking the loch and drive along Loch Ness before arriving at your hotel in the Isle of Skye.

Day 9
The scenery of the Isle of Skye beckons you as you continue to Portree and visit Dunvegan Castle before marvelling at the history of the Clan Donald. You return to the mainland of Scotland by ferry and continue to your hotel in Fort William.
Day 10
Today you experience the eerie silence of Glencoe, scene of the massacre of the MacDonald clan by the soldiers of King William in 1692. Visit Inveraray Castle and stroll alongside romantic Loch Lomond. You continue to your hotel in Glasgow.
Day 11
After a morning tour of Glasgow, your direction is southward firstly to Gretna Green, where many a marriage took place over the blacksmith's anvil and onwards to England's Lake District and your hotel in Windermere
Day 12
A full day to explore this pictoresque part of England. Along with the breath-taking scenery discover Dove Cottage and Rydal Mount, the home of one of the great poets, William Wordsworth; Hill Top, where Beatrix Potter wrote many of her books and take a cruise on Lake Windermere

Day 13
Leaving the Lake District you visit the Roman City of Chester with its fascinating history and quaint shops. Your hotel is in Stratford upon Avon.
Day 14
Stratford upon Avon was the home of another of England's greats, William Shakespeare. Visit Shakespeare's Birthplace, the thatched home of Anne Hathaway before her marriage to The Bard and The Royal Shakespeare Theatre Gallery. Your journey takes you to Oxford the city of dreaming spires, and a chance to browse the settings and join the world of Harry Potter, Lewis Carroll and Inspector Morse. Your last night is based in London.

You join your coach for the journey to the airport and your flight home.
